Bizzy Bone, the soulful
member of rap's all-time bset group Bone thugs n Harmony, has
been quiet n regards to releases, but when he has released he
has blown everyone out of the water.
In 1998, he released
his much anticapted solo album, "Heaven'z
Movie"
the album was, of corse
soulful, and as of today is sold in the "Soul" section
ar music stores, not the "rap" section. But, the gig
story was that 7th
Sign Records was born.
This was also the first
bone related album to have a book of lyrics, the album was sold
to Gold, and bizzy was on the rise, not to mention 7th sign. The
Regime was featured in every page of the book and mysteriously
said "Rest in Peace" to Big B, who we know is not dead,
but thats Biz for ya. But with the emotionally moving single,
"Nobody Can Stop Me", in which BB Gambini makes references
to a hard life with an abusive father, he hits the right spot
of all whop feel good rap. Also, his single, "thugz Cry"
was a smach hit with the video featuring Bone Thugs n Harmony
and acameo appearence by Mya.
Then Biz went for a
toatlly new approach to being the "rebel to rap music"
when he released "The Gift" in 2001.
The Gift was definitely
a change to the rap scene. No doubt, this album has the most moving
and socially active lyrics to hit any rap ever. Bizzy hits on
all issues for people from lebianism, children drug use, Saddham
Hussein, wars, and police brutality. No doubt the album would
have sold twice as much, at least, than it did if it had any promotion
at all. The album was delayed for about 3 months when Bizzy sued
Loud and Ruthless Records for defamation of character and breech
of contract. Bizzy hustled to get the album released under a small
independent record label out of Los Angeles, AMC. With 14 tracks
, and the emotionally moving "Jesus" Bizzy surely outdid
any epectation for his sophmore album. He released no singles
but did make a music video for "Father" the song addressing
issues facing the children today.
